Hogeye Festival - 2010

A time for warm hearts and hot guts. The Hogeye Festival is a fun (and free) family festival that takes place in downtown Elgin, TX. This year, the 23rd Annual Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd, from 10am-6pm. Yes, the 23rd Annual Hogeye Festival will be held on the 23rd… how cool is that? The Hogeye Festival celebrates everything piggy, and would you expect anything less from the Sausage Capital of Texas?

The festival begins with the Elgin Sowpremes, Elgin’s famous singing group, riding in on “hogs” (a.k.a. Harleys). The rest of the day is filled with hamtastic activities like a BBQ Pork Cook-Off, Hogalicious Dessert Contest, Road Hog Car Show, Cow Patty Bingo, Children’s Pet Parade, Carnival and Kid’s Activities, Acme Brick Toss, In A Pig’s Eye Dart Contest, the Royal Coronation of the King Hog or Queen Sowpreme, Live Music and Entertainment, Concessions (including sausage on a stick), and of course, loads of Pig Puns. You’ve just gotta love a festival with a sense of humor!

Also part of the Hogeye Festival is the Pearls Before Swine Art Show, with a reception and silent auction to be held on Thursday, Oct. 21st, from 7-9pm at 119 W. 2nd Street (Jewell Arts Photography Studios) in downtown Elgin. Meet and visit with the artists whose work has been selected for this show. Appreciate the fine art, enjoy some refreshments, and bid on items donated for the silent auction. All proceeds from the show and auction are used to fund scholarships for Elgin area students wishing to continue their education in art. For more information, click here.
