Martin Luther King, Jr. Walk - 2010
Martin Luther King, Jr. was an amazing man who made a significant impact on civil rights for black Americans. In his honor, there will be a Martin Luther King, Jr. Walk on Monday, Jan. 17th, beginning at 10am in Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Elgin. The Walk ends at Booker T. The same day, at 7pm, the 24th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship Program will be hosted at Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, located at 1108 Walnut Street in Bastrop. The program will feature Dr. Sterling Lands II as the keynote speaker.
