Yesterfest - 2011
It's time for Yesterfest, one of Bastrop's biggest celebrations of the year! Yesterfest weekend begins with an El Camino Real Music Festival on Friday, April 29th, from 6-10pm on Main Street. The celebration continues on Saturday, April 30th, in Historic Downtown Bastrop from 9am-5pm. This free event will celebrate 175 years of Texas history, from the pioneer days, to the jazz era, to the post-war rockabilly time. There will be bands playing music from each of these time periods, plus a huge costume contest with winners from all three eras. Each era will have its own area, where you will find period reenactments and entertainment for the whole family.
The children's area, Springville Youth Town, will offer a petting zoo, exotic animal show, pony rides, train rides, clowns, puppets, and more, and the Bastrop Opera House will have a USO show during the day and a showing of "Bastrop Salutes Broadway" at 7:30pm. Also, you will have the unique opportunity to spit off the bridge and join the exclusive club, the Society of Bridgespitters (SOB's) for a $5 fee. And you don't want to miss the hula hoop contest!
