Bastrop Juneteenth Celebration - 2011

The Bastrop Juneteenth Celebration is held the third weekend in June each year, which means it's only a few days away! This year, the celebration will begin on Friday, June 17th, with a Family and Friends Event fom 7-9pm at the Kerr Communty Park, and will continue on Saturday, June 18th, beginning with a Juneteenth Parade at 10am. The parade will start in Fisherman's Park and end at Kerr Community Park. Then, there will be an Emancipation Program at 11:30am, where County and City Officials will be on hand along with other speakers, singers, musicians and dancers to commemorate the holiday with special tributes. Next, you can enjoy a Festival in the Park (at Kerr Community Park) with entertainment and vendors. There will also be a Blue Flame Cruisers Car and Motorcycle Show at Chestnut Square, going on all day. The festivities will conclude with a Juneteenth Street Dance on Main Street, from 8pm to midnight. The Blue Mist Band will be performing, and the Bastrop Downtown Business Alliance will be selling beer. 1. Be sure to stop by White Morpha Gallery during Juneteenth in Downtown Bastrop for some great art and one of the region's best Art Restorer's, Jessica Lee Miller. We're on the corner of Chestnut and Water St. Come on in and take a look around!
