Support Bastrop State Park

Coca-Cola is offering a $100,000 grant to "America's Favorite Park." The park with the most points by July 15th, will be awarded the grant. Currently, Bastrop State Park is in 2nd place to Swift-Cantrell Park, which is located in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Back in September 2011, Bastrop County was devastated by what is now regarded as the most catastrophic wildfire in Texas history. Over 34,000 acres burned, over 1600 homes were destroyed, and 2 people lost their lives. Most of Bastrop State Park was scorched, our beautiful "Lost Pines" truly lost, replaced by the "Black Forest." Now, we're rebuilding, and this grant would really help!

There are 2 ways to vote:
  1. Go to and choose Bastrop State Park. Each vote counts as 1 point. There is NO LIMIT on the number of times each voter may vote online. Also, keep in mind that the is case sensitive.
  2. Register your foursquare account at and "check in" at Bastrop State Park. Each check in counts as 100 points!!! Each voter may check in as many times as permitted by foursquare during the Contest Period. (As of the date of this writing, per foursquare guidelines, you are allowed to "check in" once per 15-minute period, three times per hour and 28 times each day from any one location.) The foursquare app works with iPhone, Android, or Blackberry.

We're the underdog in a David & Goliath story, but with your help, I'm sure we can work together to kick some Georgia butt!
