  • Transit of Venus Viewing, 7:00-8:30pm at the Bastrop State Park Scenic Overlook. See Venus against the surface of the sun as it crosses between Earth and the sun. This is a once-in-a-life time event, as this won’t be visible again for another 117 years! Free after park entry fees.

Thursday, June 7th
  • Art Classes for Children, 10:00-11:30am at Prosperity Bank, located at 25 N. Main Street in Elgin. Ages 7-14. Taught by renowned watercolor artist, Elizabeth Sullivan. Every Thursday in June. Suggested donation of $50 to cover supplies.
  • Ian Varella, Comic Ventriloquist, 2pm at the Bastrop Public Library in the Pressley Meeting Room.
  • Summer Time Picnic, 3:00-6:30pm at Escape Salon & Spa Suites, located at 944 Hwy 71 East in Bastrop. There will be food, drinks, giveaways, and lots of great summer time fun ideas for your hair and skin at a great price. Admission is FREE! For more info, call Ashley at (512) 284-0209.
  • Summer Reading Program Teen Kick-Off Party, 5-7pm at the Bastrop Public Library in the Pressley Meeting Room. Ages 13-17. Henna Tattoo (permission slip required from parent), pizza, friends, and fun!
  • Bingo, 6:30-8:30pm at the Elgin VFW, located at 118 Old Sayers Road in Elgin.
  • Miss Juneteenth Pageant, 6:30pm at Elgin High School.
  • Ladies Night Out and Thirty-One Gifts Party, 7pm at Cripple Creek & Company, located at Main Street in Bastrop. There will be wine, sangrias, peach bellinis, and hors d'oeuvres. Shop for a variety of purses, totes, wallets, accessories, and more.

Friday, June 8th
  • Heart of Texas Green Expo, 8am-7pm at the Bastrop Convention & Exhibition Center. Sponsored by Keep Bastrop County Beautiful. Addresses important issues in energy, conservation, and sustainability. One-day pass is $5, two-day pass is $8, and kids 12 and under are FREE. At 7pm,  Bill Oliver and the Otter Space Band will perform live, followed by nationally known folk and children’s artist, Sara Hickman. Concert is FREE and open to the community!   • Preschool Story Time, 10:30am at Bastrop Public Library.
  • Juneteenth Street Dance, 7pm at Veterans' Memorial Park in Elgin.
  • Balderdash! Melodrama, 7:30pm at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in Smithville. Villains abound, heroes alight, heroines aflutter, popcorn is thrown, and boo's are abundant! Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online here.
  • Movie in the Park, "Puss in Boots," 8:30pm (once it gets dark) at Riverbend Park in Smithville. Admission is FREE! Concessions are available.
  • Night Hike, 8:30-9:30pm at Bastrop State Park. Join a naturalist to call for owls, watch for bats, listen for toads, and experience the park's trails after dark. Wear walking shoes and bring water, insect repellent, and a flashlight for this mile-long hike. Meet at the kiosk by the playground. Not recommended for children under the age of six. Free after park entry fees.

Saturday, June 9th

  • 3rd Annual Disc Golf Open at Riverbend Park in Smithville. Singles tournament registration is $25/player; check-in begins at 8am. Doubles tournament registration is $50/team; check-in begins at 12:30pm. For more info, click here.
  • Go Fish! A Learn-to-Fish Event, 9am-12:30pm at Bastrop State Park. Families can learn the basics of fishing through fun, hands-on activities. Take away a fishing fun pack and enter the drawing for door prizes. Equipment and bait provided or bring your own. No license necessary. Adults must accompany children. For more info, click here.
  • Pine Street Market Days, 9am-4pm in downtown Bastrop on Pine Street between Main and Water Streets. Antiques, pottery, art, handmade items, jewelry, clothing, toys, and more! For more info, click here.
  • Rebel Race, 9:30am-1:30pm at Rocky Hill Ranch, located at 578 FM 153 in Smithville. Choose to run the 5K or 15K muddy, obstacle course. There will be a fireworks show after dark. For more info or to register, click here.
  • Juneteenth Parade & Celebration, 10am in downtown Elgin. Parade begins at Booker T. Washington Elementary and continues to Main Street, followed by activities in Veterans' Memorial Park.

  • PetCo Adoption Event, 10am-2pm at the PetCo in Bastrop. Come see some of the great pets from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter who are looking for their new "fur"ever home.
  • Book Signing - The Seven Courses of Christianity, 1-3pm at Coffee Dog, located at 49 Loop 150 West in Bastrop. Meet and greet author Brenda Brittain. Admission is FREE! The book may be purchased for $10.
  • Movies in the Park, "Yogi Bear," 7pm at Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. Bring a blanket, chairs, and your own snacks. There will be fun and games with Poppy the Clown and the Bastrop YMCA, and then you can enjoy an outdoor movie. Admission is FREE!

Sunday, June 10th
  • Battle of the Post, Bastrop VFW Post 12104, located at 1128 Hwy 21 East in Bastrop. There will be a Rib/Chicken Cook-Off between 3 VFW Posts. BBQ plates will be on sale for $5 each. There will also be ive music beginning at 12pm, including Clayton Adams at 3pm.
  • Country Music Jam, American Legion Post 533, located at 3003 Loop 150 East in Bastrop, 3pm-7pm. Hosted by The Country Side Men. Traditional country and western dance music of yesteryear. If you play or sing, bring your instrument and join the fun! No cover charge, family friendly, smoke free, air conditioned, public welcome. Cold drinks are available.
