First Friday 7-6-12

First Friday is a monthly event held in downtown Bastrop on the first Friday of every month to celebrate Bastrop's thriving art scene. This month, First Friday will be held on July 6th. Many downtown businesses, restaurants, and shops will stay open late, and there will be live music, refreshments, and local artwork throughout the downtown area.

You can enjoy an artist reception and "Pastels on Parade" art show at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild Gallery, check out the mosaic show "Art in Pieces" at Artmakers Collective, located in the R.A. Green Mercantile, bid on an item in the High Cotton silent auction, or grab a guitar and strum along at Larryland Music's "Pickin' on the Porch." There's something fun for everyone!

One of the best parts of First Friday is the First Friday Art Walk, which begins at 5pm. Participating art galleries and businesses will be open until 8pm on Friday evening, showcasing local artists' work. Some of the participating galleries/businesses include:

After you've browsed all of the art, pick up a ballot at Art Connections Gallery and vote on the Peoples' Choice Artist of the Month. When you vote, you will automatically be registered in a year-end prize drawing. So come on out and beat the heat with some cool art, chilled wine, and refreshing people in beautiful, historic downtown Bastrop!
