Pet & Pal Parade and Patriotic Festival - 2012

One of the reasons I love living in a small town is that there's always a reason to have a parade! In July, Bastrop celebrates Independence Day with the Pet & Pal Parade and Patriotic Festival. This year, the Parade will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 10:30am in downtown Bastrop.

Parade Schedule:
  • 9:00-9:45am- Registration
  • 9:45-10:30am- Judging
  • 10:30am- Parade begins

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Best Pet Trick
  • Most Unusual Pet
  • Most Patriotic Pet & Pal
  • Best Pet & Owner Look-Alike
  • Best Non-Motorized Vehicle Decoration

The Parade begins at the Bastrop County Courthouse, proceeds down Main Street, and ends at the Bastrop Opera House. Click here for more info and registration forms.

Beginning at 5pm, there will be a July 4th Celebration at the Bastrop Brewhouse, located in the Crossing at 601 Chestnut Street. There will be live music by Aaron Einhouse, face painting and balloons, t-shirts, mugs, ice cream from Bastrop Scoops, food, and complimentary beer!

Bastrop's Annual Patriotic Festival will be held that evening at Fisherman's Park, located at 1400 Willow Street. There will be food vendors, kid's activities and games, and more. The Bastrop Community Chorus & Orchestra will perform at 6pm, and the Austin Symphonic Band will perform a patriotic concert at 8pm. The fireworks display will begin at dark. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and come celebrate America small town style!
