Wednesday, July 4th
  • Push, Pedal, & Pull Peoples' Patriotic Parade, 10am in downtown Elgin. Parade line-up begins at 9:30am at Elgin's City Hall. The parade starts at 10am and ends at Veterans' Memorial Park, where there will be a short program. The program will be followed by a box car derby race by the Elgin Boy Scouts.
  • Southside Market & BBQ July 4th Fireworks Show, begins at dark-thirty at the Southside Market & BBQ parking lot, located at 1212 Hwy 290 East in Elgin.

Thursday, July 5th

Friday, July 6th
  • Preschool Story Time, 10:30am at Bastrop Public Library.
  • Flip Flop Friday, 11am at Elgin Public Library. Bring your own flip flops to decorate. Snacks and fabric/decorations will be provided.
  • First Friday, beginning at 5pm in downtown Bastrop. There will be a reception at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild from 6-8pm, lots of live music, and downtown businesses and restaurants will stay open late. Many businesses will be showcasing local artists' work as part of the First Friday Art Walk. You can vote for your favorite artist at Art Connections Gallery, located at 705 Pine Street, after strolling downtown and viewing all of the amazing art.
  • High Cotton Silent Auction, 5-9pm at 809 Main Street in Bastrop. Come grab a free glass of wine and bid on silent auction items.
  • Pastels on Parade, 6-8pm at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild Gallery, located at 1009 Main Street in Bastrop. The exhibit features the Guild's pastel artists for the month of July, which include Jo Castillo, Enid Wood, Wanda Gamble, Carolyn Wiginton, and more. The exhibit runs through the month of July.   • Art in Pieces, 6-8pm at Artmakers Collective in the R.A. Green Mercantile, located at 1022 Main Street in Bastrop. The exhibit features mosaic works by Ann Adams, Jacquie Gallagher, Terra Goodwin, Linda Neubauer, Stephaine Shroyer, and Aly Winningham. The exhibit will run from July 6th-July 31st.
  • Parents' Night Out, 6-9pm at Giggle N Jump, located at 1102 College Street in Bastrop. Call (512) 321-5867 to register. Ages 3-11 (must be potty trained). $25 per child, $15 for siblings. Includes dinner.
  • Movie in the Park, "An American Tail," 7:00-10:30pm at Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. There will be games and activities for the kids beginning at 7pm. The movie will begin at dusk. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy a fun-filled night under the stars. Admission is FREE!
  • Night Hike, 8:30-9:30pm at Bastrop State Park. Join a naturalist to call for owls, watch for bats, listen for toads, and experience the park's trails after dark. Wear walking shoes and bring water, insect repellent, and a flashlight for this mile-long hike. Meet at the kiosk by the playground. Not recommended for children under the age of six. Free after park entry fees.

Saturday, July 7th
  • Pet & Pal Parade, 10:30am in downtown Bastrop. Registration begins at 9am, Judging is from 9:45-10:30am, and the Parade begins at 10:30am. Parade begins at the Bastrop County Courthouse, proceeds down Main Street, and ends at the Bastrop Opera House. Click here for more info and registration forms.

  • River Valley Farmers' Market, 10am at Veterans' Memorial Park in Elgin. Fresh eggs, veggies, plants, and more!
  • Family Nature Quest, 10am-1pm at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. Guided hike leaves from the Visitor's Center at 10am and returns at 11am. Nature crafts and self-guided scavenger hunts until 1pm. Admission is FREE for all ages! Pre-registration is required for the hike. Email outdoorprograms@lcra.org for more info.
  • Bastrop Brewhouse July 4th Celebration, beginning at 5pm at the Crossing, located at 601 Chestnut Street in Bastrop. There will be live music by Aaron Einhouse, face painting and balloons, t-shirts, mugs, ice cream (from Bastrop Scoops), food, and FREE beer!
  • Annual Patriotic Festival, 6:00-9:30pm at Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. Food vendors, kid's activities/games, live music, and of course, fireworks! The Bastrop Community Chorus & Orchestra will perform at 6pm, and the Austin Symphonic Band will perform a patriotic concert at 8pm. Fireworks display will begin at dark. Admission is FREE!
  • Paddle by Moonlight, 8:30-9:30pm at Busecher State Park. Kayak and explore the calm waters of the Buescher State Park lake by twilight. Bring your own kayak or borrow one of the Park's kayaks. Paddles and PFDs included. No children under the age of 16. Reservations required. Call (512) 718-0211 or email katie.raney@tpwd.state.tx.us for more info or to RSVP. Free after Park entry fees.

Sunday, July 8th
  • VBS Pre-Flight Rally, 5-7pm at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 3001 Loop 150 East in Bastrop. There will be hot dogs, sno cones, games, and activities. The Vacation Bible School program will be July 9th-13th. For more info, click here.
