  • 2nd Annual Fall Fashion Show & Fundraiser, 6:00-8:30pm at the Texas Boot Company, located at 733 Old Austin Hwy in Bastrop. There will be a Cowboy Cocktail Hour starting to 6:00pm, and the fashion show will start around 6:30 pm, followed by live music and shopping. The fashion models will be girls from the Miss Bastrop County Beauty Pageant, escorted by dogs from the Bastrop County Animal Shelter (who will be available for adoption). There will also be a mechanical goat roping contest and a raffle. Admission is FREE, but please bring a bag of dog or cat food to help feed the animals that are in the shelter. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Bastrop County Animal Shelter.

There will be a reception at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild from 6-8pm, lots of live music, and downtown businesses and restaurants will stay open late. Many businesses will be showcasing local artists' work as part of the First Friday Art Walk. You can vote for your favorite artist at Art Connections Gallery, located at 705 Pine Street, after strolling downtown and viewing all of the amazing art.

  • "The Rocky Horror Show," 7:30pm at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in downtown Smithville. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online here or at the door.
  • Night Hike, 8:30-9:30pm at Bastrop State Park. Join a naturalist to call for owls, watch for bats, listen for toads, and experience the park's trails after dark. Wear walking shoes and bring water, insect repellent, and a flashlight for this mile-long hike. Meet at the kiosk by the playground. Not recommended for children under the age of six. Free after park entry fees.

Saturday, August 4th

  • Light 'O the Moon Float Trip, 7-11pm at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. Floating by the light of the moon, you'll be serenaded under the stars by the nocturnal creatures of the river corridor. Take in the beauty of the sun setting on the Colorado and the cool comfort of the night air as your raft is gently guided down a stretch of tranquil river. Participants must be able to swim.
