Hubbard, assistant emergency management coordinator for the Bastrop Police Department, will make a presentation about reducing the likelihood that a future wildfire will ravage your home and property, as well as discussing insights gained during a recently released 166-page study of the 2011 Bastrop Complex Fire conducted by the Texas Forest Service and the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management. Admission is FREE!

  • Night Hike, 8:30-9:30pm at Bastrop State Park. Join a naturalist to call for owls, watch for bats, listen for toads, and experience the park's trails after dark. Wear walking shoes and bring water, insect repellent, and a flashlight for this mile-long hike. Meet at the kiosk by the playground. Not recommended for children under the age of six. Free after park entry fees.

Saturday, August 18th

  • Cedar Creek Eagle and Wings Community Pep Rally, 4:30-9:45pm at Cedar Creek High School, located at 793 Union Chapel Road in Cedar Creek, just off of Hwy 71. There will be a football scrimmage from 4:30-6:00pm, followed by the Eagles and Wings event from 6:00-8:45pm. The Eagle Community Pep Rally will begin at 9pm. Booths will include activities and fun for all ages along with food and drinks. Tickets for the various booths will be 50 cents each. Cedar Creek Elementary, Middle School and High School students can participate in the “Eagle Flight” as a part of the pep rally. Student, parents, and the Cedar Creek community are invited. Admission is FREE!
