Top 13 Events of Halloween

  1. October Fun at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm - Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26th-27th, 10am-5:30pm, Sunday, Oct. 28th, 12-5:30pm, Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 29th-31st, 10am-2pm at Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, located at 120 Nature's Way (off Roy David Road) in Elgin. Admission is $5 per person, ages 2 and up. Go to their website and join the Farm Family to receive a FREE child's admission. Hayrides, kiddie train (weekends only), animals, rubber duck races, pumpkin patch, mini pumpkin decorating, hay jumps, playgrounds, and more.

  2. Thriller Flash Mob - Saturday, Oct. 27th, 7pm at Schulman Theatres Lost Pines 8, located at 1600 Chestnut Street in Bastrop. Practice will be Friday, Oct. 26th and/or Saturday, Oct. 27th at 6pm. Join the flash mob in performing/dancing to the song "Thriller" by Michael Jackson.

  3. Smithville Ghost Tours - Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26th-27th, 7pm and 9pm, in historic (and haunted) downtown Smithville. Meet at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in Smithville. Hear stories of love gone wrong, horrible train explosions that "blew men to atoms," the tragic loss of an entire family that has never found rest, and more.   4. Assignment Terror: Zombies in Smithville! - Weekends, Oct. 26th, Oct. 27th, Nov. 2nd, and 3rd at Playhouse Smithville. Dinner will be served at 6:30pm, and for $10 per plate, includes salad, spaghetti & meatballs, garlic, bread, and dessert, catered by Comfort Cafe. The performance also costs $10 and begins at 7:30pm. Disco, funk and plaintive tunes abound in this campy comedy of aliens visiting Smithville, zombiefication of the natives and a traveling troubador who can't stop singing Neil Diamond tunes. Coupled with flying body parts during a rousing rendition of "It's Raining Men," this should prove to be a truly funky dinner date.

  5. 5K Zombie Mud Run - Saturday, Oct. 27th at Rocky Hill Ranch, located at 578 Hwy 153 in Smithville. Packet pickup begins at 7am, and the first wave of Zombies takes off at 9am. Be part of setting a Guiness world record for the Largest Zombie Gathering on Earth!!! Runners will cover a challenging, mud filled 5k course, punctuated with a series of strenuous obstacles, all while dodging ravenous zombies. After the race, regardless of your status as a survivor or a zombie, everyone will get together for prizes, a zombie beauty pageant, cold beer, and live music from Zombie Mode.   6. Fall Festival & Corn Maze - Saturday, Oct. 27th and Sunday, Oct. 28th, 9am-dusk at Barton Hill Farms, located at 1115 FM 969 in Bastrop. Enjoy a 5-acre corn maze, a pumpkin patch, a frontier fort, a sunken pirate ship, and more! Plus, there will be live music all day both days, including a performance by the Emmy award-winning Biscuit Brothers on Saturday at 11am.   7. Trick, Treat & ROAR - Saturday, Oct. 27th, 10am-4pm at the Dinosaur Park in Cedar Creek. Wear a costume and get $1 OFF admission. Wear a DINOSAUR costume and get in FREE!!! Plus, kids can earn treats by counting the hidden Halloween items throughout the nature trails.

  8. Pumpkin Hunt - Saturday, Oct. 27th, 10am-5pm and Sunday, Oct. 28th, 1-5pm at Evergreen Farms in Elgin. Click here for directions. Admission is FREE, but some activities cost $2.50-$5.00 each. Free activities include wagon rides, a toddler play area, pumpkin recipes, pumpkin decorating (after purchase of a pumpkin), bean bag toss, petting zoo, and pictures with the pumpkins. Paid activities include the Pumpkin Hunt, Pumpkin Launcher, maze, slide, train rides, golf, Pumpkin Pond, Pumpkin Spinner, and face painting.

  9. Hollywood Halloween Party - Saturday, Oct. 27th, 7pm at Spiderwood Studios, located at 140 Utley Road in Elgin. Presented by the Texas Motion Picture Alliance. Live music by Fastball, wine tasting, appetizers and desserts, a costume contest, cash bar, meet and greet with Texas celebrities, and more! General public admission is $75 per person.   10. McDade Fall Festival - Sunday, Oct. 28th, 3-6pm at the McDade Watermelon Festival grounds in McDade. Haunted House, Cake Walk, Moon Bounce, Hay Maze, Games, and more! Plus, there will be a Costume Contest at 5pm. Exchange non-perishable food items for game tickets. Food collected benefits the McDade Food Pantry.

  11. Journey to Hell - Oct. 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st, 7pm at Foundation Christian Ministries, located at 177 E. Union Chapel Road in Cedar Creek. Update: Oct. 28th performance is SOLD OUT!!!

  12. Halloween Safe Trick or Treat Trail - Wednesday, Oct. 31st, 6-8pm in Veterans Memorial Park in Elgin. Bring your costumed cuties out to trick-or-treat in a safe environment, where local businesses and organizations will be handing out candy and prizes. Get all the treats without any of the tricks!

  13. Halloween Fest - Wednesday, Oct. 31st, 5-9pm in historic downtown Bastrop. Halloween Fest is recognized as one of the top Halloween festivals in the country! Enjoy costume contests, pumpkin carving contests, a lip sync costest, the Need For Speed Haunted House, the Bastrop Opera House Shadow Alley, a hayride sponsored by the Bastrop Fire Department, trick-or-treating, games, a bounce house, a giant slide, and more.
