Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Bastrop County

Set your DVR, because this is one show you do NOT want to miss! Extreme Makeover: Home  "Firefighter" Edition, which was filmed in Bastrop County, airs TONIGHT, Monday, Dec. 3rd, 7-9pm (CST) on ABC.

This Christmas-themed episode follows volunteer firefighter, Mizzy Zdroj, and her family as they get the surprise of a lifetime after losing their home in the Bastrop County Complex Fire.

Hosted by Ty Pennington, the episode features an appearance by BMX biker Matt Hoffman, Chef Art Smith, and some special guests from "Star Wars."

The home was built by EFC Custom Homes, and hundreds of volunteers from all over Bastrop County showed up to help. Were you one of them?

Here's a photo of the finished home (from EFC Custom Home's facebook page).
If you want to see the house up close and personal, come on out to the OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, Dec. 8th, from 9am-4pm at the Zdroj home, located at 670 Cottletown Rd. in Smithville. Meet the Zdroj family and their firefighter friends from the Heart of the Pines VFD, as you tour the inside of their incredible home, which boasts several "green" sustainable living features including solar panels and a special water collection system.

The builder and other contractors will be there to answer questions, and there will be a silent auction, which will include some show related items, slides and pics of the Bastrop County Complex Fire, and artwork created by Mizzy Zdroj. There is a suggested donation of $5, which will benefit several local charities, serving those affected by the wildfires.
