Thanksgiving Dining in Bastrop County - 2013

'Tis the season for giving thanks. And turkey. And stuffing. And cranberry sauce. And pie. OK, now I'm hungry! If you don't feel like cooking that turkey dinner yourself, there are several places in Bastrop County that will gladly serve you a delicious home-cooked meal...

Comfort Café ($)
Comfort Café is located at 111 NW 1st Street in downtown Smithville. They will be offering a buffet on Thanksgiving Day from 11am-3pm with turkey and all the trimmings. The best partit's donation only! That means you pay only what you can, and if you can't afford to pay anything at all, that's ok, too. They simply ask that you trade a little service work for your meal. All proceeds from the café go to help support SerenityStar Recovery Center.

Maxine's on Main ($$)
Maxine's on Main is located at 905 Main Street in downtown Bastrop and will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 11am-3pm for a home-cooked, all-you-can-eat buffet. The buffet is $24.95/adult and $15/child under 12. (Maxine's Café in Elgin will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.)

Hyatt Lost Pines - Firewheel Café ($$$)
The Hyatt Lost Pines' Thanksgiving buffet at the Firewheel Café dishes up holiday favorites such as roasted turkey and cornbread stuffing, along with nontraditional but tasty fare such as shrimp, Gulf Coast oysters, ahi tuna, glazed ham, slow-roasted prime rib, as well as many other irresistible sides such as sweet potato casserole, cranberry chutney and more. Desserts abound, too, with apple, pecan and pumpkin pies, red velvet cake, a fudge bar, and "pumpkinpalooza," featuring pumpkin-flavored bread pudding, mousse, and cakes. Click here to see the full menu.

This special meal is available on Thanksgiving Day from 11am-2pm. The cost is $52 for adults, $26 for ages 6-12, and complimentary for children ages 5 and under. Guests will also enjoy music by K.R. Wood and the Gone to Texas Band. For reservations, call (512) 308-4860.

*UPDATE: Reservations are currently full, although there is a wait-list available.

Hyatt Lost Pines - Stories Fine Dining ($$$$)

Among the delectable temptations are molasses-brined pheasant, hand-cut prime filet Mignon, warm apple crepes and more. Click here to see the full menu. This special meal is $65 per person.
