Lights of Tejas - 2014

During the holidays when I was a kid, I would turn on Time Life's Christmas album, plug in the Christmas tree, wiggle underneath the bottom branches, and stare up at the twinkling lights while Bing Crosby sang "White Christmas." It was magical. There's just something about Christmas lights that transports you to a world full of sugarplum fairies, elves dressed in red and green, reindeer that fly, snowmen who talk, and a jolly old man with a long white beard who flies around the world delivering presents to children.

When it comes to recapturing the nostalgia of those magical childhood Christmases, nowhere does a better job than the Lights of Tejas. Run by Camp Tejas in Giddings, Texas, the Lights of Tejas boasts over one million lights and several exciting holiday light displays. This year, they've also got a new indoor light show where you will be completely surrounded by lights as you watch a multi-media retelling of the story of Christmas.

Besides amazing light displays, both young and old can enjoy face painting, ornament decorating, hayrides, or a star quest scavenger hunt. Plus, come celebrate the true meaning of Christmas at the new birthday party for Jesus where you can decorate your very own Christmas cupcake.
Take your family on the 50 foot climbing wall and get the best view of the holiday light show. Zip line across the park or play your favorite midway games. Enjoy your evening jumping, sliding, and screaming for fun in one — or ALL! — of the six bounce houses located on the grounds.

There’s even an entire room filled with pool tables, shuffle board, foosball, air hockey, and ping pong. And, if you're feeling feisty, you can participate in the Texas Snowball Showdown, where you can fire low impact foam balls at each other.
