Top 10 Things to Do This Weekend (Dec 5-7, 2014)

1. First Friday Art Walk - Dec. 5th, 5-9pm in downtown Bastrop. Enjoy art, live music, food, shopping, and more. Plus, there will be carriage rides in front of the Visitor's Center from 7-9pm!

2. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" - Dec. 5th, 7:30pm; Dec. 6th, 2pm & 8pm at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in Smithville. On Dec. 5th, admission is $10/person. On Dec. 6th, admission is FREE!

3. Holiday by the Tracks - Dec. 6th, all day beginning at 9am in downtown Elgin. Pictures with Santa, art, music, food, shopping, lighted Christmas parade, live nativity, and more!

4. Festival of Lights - Dec. 6th, all day beginning at 9am in downtown Smithville. Gingerbread Man 5K/1K Fun Run, Smitty's Amazing Digital Race, indoor and outdoor markets, live music, kids fest with games and inflatables, pictures with Santa, Ann Powell Express train rides, lighted parade, and more!

5. 2nd Annual Christmas Expo - Dec. 6th, 9am-6pm at 375 McDonald Lane in Cedar Creek. It's a shopping extravaganza! Origami Owl, Scentsy, Plexus, NYR Organic, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Pure Romance, Thirty-One, handmade d├ęcor and gifts, chair massages, and more!

6. Cake Decorating Class for Kids - Dec. 6th, 3-4pm at Johnson's Bakery, located at 715 Old Austin Hwy in Bastrop. Your child will get to frost the cake, cut decorations with cookie cutters, and decorate their pre-baked, single-layer 6" cake. Cost is $20/child. All ages welcome. Class is limited to 6 participants. There will be another class from 5-6pm if the 3-4pm class gets filled.

7. Cookie Decorating with Santa - Dec. 6th, 12:00-2:30pm at the Sugar Shack, located at 114 Loop 150 W in Bastrop. Decorate a large gingerbread man cookie while visiting with Santa. $7.99/child. Space is limited!

8. "Arthur Christmas" and Lighting of the River of Lights - Dec. 6th, beginning at 3pm at Fisherman's Park in Bastrop. Play on a "snow" covered hill, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while roasting marshmallows, and watch "Arthur Christmas" as snowflakes flurry through the air.

9. "Twas the Night Before the Revision of Christmas" - Dec. 5th, 6pm & 7:30pm at 921 Main Street in downtown Bastrop. FREE outdoor performance of an original play written and performed by One Day Academy students.

10. 14th Annual Tree of Angels Ceremony - Dec. 7th, 6pm at Calvary Episcopal Church, located at 603 Spring Street in Bastrop.  Honoring Victims and Survivors of Violent Crime, bring an angel ornament to hang on the tree in memory or honor of your loved one.
