The YMCA is not your typical recreational program. It's a nonprofit organization that fulfills a need. That need is for health, wellness, and fitness programs, as well as community programs and classes that enhance the lives of the people living in our community. The money raised during the Annual Campaign funds the Membership for All financial assistance program so that everyone, despite their financial situation, can have access to health, fitness, and community programs through the YMCA.
One out of every seven people in Bastrop County is living in poverty. Thanks to the support of local businesses and individuals like you, the Bastrop YMCA is able to offer financial assistance to families and individuals who can't afford to pay the full price of membership dues and program fees. The YMCA believes that poverty should not be a barrier to health, wellness, friendship, or fun.
The Bastrop YMCA is making a difference in the lives of Bastrop County residents—helping kids and adults of all ages learn to swim, cook, dance, make friends, play sports, express their creativity, explore their interests, build confidence, and most of all, get fit and stay healthy.
My personal example of how the YMCA has impacted my life for the better involves my 8-year old son, Peyton. Since 1st grade, he has struggled with reading and ended up falling behind on his reading level. He felt he was doing poorly in school, and his confidence suffered. We signed him up for track and soccer through the Bastrop YMCA. He excelled. As his confidence in himself grew because of his success in sports, that confidence seeped into his schoolwork as well. He's now in 3rd grade and reading at the standard level for his grade. I believe that it's not only because of the hard work of his wonderful teachers, but also due to the fact that the YMCA helped him find confidence in himself.
The YMCA Annual Campaign kicks off this year on Feb. 1st, continuing through Mar. 9th. The Bastrop YMCA needs your help to continue to build programs that impact and serve our community. 100% of your donation to the campaign stays right here in Bastrop County!
Your donation's impact:
- $25 – Give an entire family one month of healthy living through the Membership for All initiative
- $50 – Teach one child to swim and provide a lifelong, lifesaving skill
- $100 – Provide one young athlete the opportunity to participate on a Youth Sports team
- $150 – Send one child to Y Summer Camp and help create lifelong memories
- $250 – Send a student to YMCA Youth & Government District and State Conferences
- $500 – Give a Youth Sports team a whole season to build confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits
