Bastrop County Summer Camp & Activities Guide - 2016

Summer is a magical time of swimming, camping, arts & crafts, and making friends. But it can also be a time for your kids to drive you crazy. To help you entertain those stir-crazy kiddos, we've compiled a list of summer camps, classes, and other fun activities in Bastrop County (including Bastrop, Elgin, Smithville, and Cedar Creek, Texas) to keep your kids entertained this summer. You're welcome. ;)

We'd like to thank the Bastrop YMCA for sponsoring this summer's guide! The Bastrop YMCA is making a difference in the lives of Bastrop County residents—helping kids and adults of all ages learn to swim, cook, dance, make friends, play sports, express their creativity, explore their interests, build confidence, and most of all, get fit and stay healthy. Plus, be sure to ask about financial aid, because at the YMCA, no one is turned away because they can't afford the full price of membership or classes.

They'll take apart pellets to see what an owl cannot digest, view the world through a camera obscura, join a team of campers to build bridges, domes, cubes, and pyramids, assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults, and simple machines, and make their own sidewalk chalk, crystal gardens, and chromatography-dyed T-shirt.

The "Rockin' Rockets" camp invites kids to launch their knowledge of flight as they build their very own rockets! They'll experiment with different kinds of propulsion systems as they use their new knowledge to blast off, track and recover different kinds of rockets.
