1. Gumbo Friday - Sept. 2nd, 11am at Lost Pines Toyota, located at 806 Hwy 71 in Bastrop. FREE gumbo!!! Plus, they're having a school supply & book drive to to help restore the flooded library at Denham Louisiana's Southside Junior High.

2. Fish Fry - Sept. 2nd, 12-7pm at Ascension Catholic Church, located at 802 Pine Street in Bastrop. Catfish and cod, French fries, cole slaw, beans, and hush puppies. $8/plate for adults and $6/plate for seniors & children. Dine in or carry out.

3. First Friday Art Walk - Sept. 2nd, 5:30-8:30pm in downtown Bastrop. Food, shopping, live music, and of course, ART! Admission is FREE! *More events in downtown Bastrop during FFAW: Drum Circle at Vibe Tribe, Pickin' on the Porch in the Crossing, and a Wine Tasting at Cripple Creek Wine & Gifts.

4. Leave No Trace Behind Hike - Sept. 3rd, 2-3pm at Buescher State Park. Start your adventure to discover what it means to be a great Jr. Ranger. Free after park entry fees. *More TPWD events: Birds of a Feather - Nature Play on Sept. 3rd, 9-10am at Bastrop State Park. Discover how our feathered friends find each other in the vast wilderness. Free after park entry fees.

5. Artisan's Faire - Sept. 3rd, 10am-6pm at Hippy Healings, located at 107 Colorado Circle in Cedar Creek. Handmade crafts, massage, food, and more!

6. "The Bible in 30 Minutes... or Less!" - Sept. 3rd , 7pm and Sept. 4th, 2pm at the Bastrop Opera House, located at in Bastrop. Led by an ambitious narrator, this energetic and hilarious play opens with the Book of Genesis and runs right through the Book of Revelation. Meet over 100 Biblical characters, famous and obscure, all at breakneck speed. Performed by the Bastrop Youth Academy. $5/adult, $3/students. Buy tickets online here.

7. "Savannah Sipping Society" - 7:30pm on Sept. 2nd & 3rd at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in Smithville. In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate (and an impromptu happy hour) and decide it's high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they've lost throughout the years. $12/person, online or at the door.

8. Road to Recovery - Sept. 4th, 9-11am at the Refectory in Bastrop State Park. On the 5-year anniversary of the Bastrop County Complex Fire, take a look back at the challenges and successes the park has faced in dealing with the effects of one of Texas' most devastating wildfires. There will be fire equipment and fire fighters that were there on that day, available to discuss what happened, what has been learned, and what the park is doing to bring back the Lost Pines of Bastrop County for future generations to enjoy.

9. Rockne Homecoming Bazaar - Sept. 4th, 11am-5pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at in Rockne. Lunch plates, horseshoes & washers tournaments, games, BINGO, raffle, auction, refreshments & concessions, face painting, bouncy house, cake walk, and more!

10. Bastrop County Remembers - Sept. 4th, 12-3pm at the Bastrop Convention & Exhibition Center, located at 1408 Chestnut Street in Bastrop. It's a community gathering to commemorate the Bastrop County Complex Wildfire in September 2011 with a free BBQ lunch, kid's activities, fellowship, healing, live music, a special time of remembrance, and a community mosaic memorial. Admission is FREE!
