Top 10 Things to Do This Weekend (May 19-21, 2017)


1. Relay for Life - May 19th-20th, 7pm-1am at Mayfest Park, located behind the American Legion at 3003 Loop 150 E in Bastrop. Opening Ceremony at 7pm, Survivors Lap at 7:15pm followed by the Caregivers Lap, Luminaria Ceremony at 9pm, and Closing Ceremony at 1am.

2. "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" - May 19th & 20th, 7:30pm at Playhouse Smithville, located at 110 Main Street in Smithville. You'll meet beloved character Charlie Brown and his friends Snoopy, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, and more! $15/person.

3. "The Glass Mendacity" - May 19th & 20th, 7:30pm at the Bastrop Opera House, located at 711 Spring Street in Bastrop. A raucous funhouse parody of Tennesee Williams' most memorable plays and outrageous characters! Directed by AJ Fuex and featuring the Hasty Retreat Players. $15/person; purchase tickets online here.

5. Elgin Art Studio Tour **FEATURED EVENT** - May 20th, 10am-6pm and May 21st, 12-4pm in downtown Elgin. Visit with artists, view and buy their beautiful creations, enjoy artist demonstrations, and more!


6. Art Getaway - May 20th, 11am-6pm at the Lost Pines Art Center, located at 1204 Chestnut Street in Bastrop. Enjoy art classes & demonstrations including Mexican paper crafts for kids and Chinese Watercolor ($25/person), live music, and more! Admission is FREE!

7. Lone Star 10th Annual Crawfish & BBQ Festival - May 20th, 4-8pm at Lone Star Farm, located at 270 Lone Star Road in Bastrop. Featuring live music by 3 Legged Willie. BYOB. $10/person includes all the crawfish & BBQ you can eat!

8. Cotton Bowl Speedway Racing - May 20th, 6:45-11:00pm at Cotton Bowl Speedway, located at 1175 CR 202 in Paige. General Admission: $15/Adult, $12/Military, Seniors, & Students, $5/Child ages 6-12, Children 5 & under FREE; Pit Pass Admission: $30/person.

9. THIS SHOW: Debut of Stage East - May 20th & 21st at sundown (approx. 8:15-8:30pm) at Beta Brewhouse by Osmo's Daughter, located at 226 E. Austin Street in Elgin. THIS SHOW is a variety show filled with music, dance, and whimsy performed by Stage East, Elgin's newly-formed grassroots collective of performers and creatives working on launching a new community theater. 10. SVFD 2017 Fundraiser - May 21st, 11am-2pm at Riverbend Park, located at 107 Hwy 71 W in Smithville. Help raise money for the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department! Lunch starts at 11am; $8/person includes fried chicken, sausage, & sides. Auction starts at 1pm followed by the raffle.
