Top 10 Things to Do This Weekend (May 5-7, 2017)

1. Thunder on the Colorado - May 5th-7th at Riverbend Park, located at 107 Hwy 71 W in Smithville. Ages 21 & up. Live music, bike shows, biker games, parade in downtown Smithville, Miss Thunder Contest, Fun Run Bike Ride, and more!

2. First Friday Art Walk - May 5th, 5:30-8:30pm in downtown Bastrop. Art, food, shopping, live music, and more. FREE! Participating venue's events here, here, and here. Also, don't forget to stop by Pickin' on the Porch in The Crossing, located at 601 Chestnut Street in Bastrop.

3. Nuestro Mexico - May 5th, 7-9pm at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts, located at 1401 Cedar Street in Bastrop. Cedar Creek High School's Ballet Folklorico Orgullo Mexicano will perform. Admission is FREE!

4. Downtown Bastrop Pub Crawl - May 5th, 7-10pm in downtown Bastrop. Ages 21 & up. Features six stops with tasting coupons at five locations of your choice. $25/person. First 50 attendees get a free sombrero!

5. "The Glass Mendacity" **FEATURED EVENT** - May 5th & 6th, 7:30pm at the Bastrop Opera House, located at 711 Spring Street in Bastrop. A raucous funhouse parody of Tennesee Williams' most memorable plays and outrageous characters! Directed by AJ Fuex and featuring the Hasty Retreat Players. $15/person; purchase tickets online here.

6. Bun Run for the Cure - May 6th, 10am-12pm in downtown Smithville. Family 5K/10K fun run. Meet at Pocket's Grille, located at 205 Fawcett Street in Smithville, and stay for the after party! (If you want even more running/racing, check out the Wildflower Half!)

8. Washer Tournament & Fish Fry - May 6th, 10am-6pm at the American Legion Post 533, located at 3003 Loop 150 in Bastrop. Washer tournament begins at 11am, fish fry begins at 4pm.

9. Cotton Bowl Speedway Racing - May 6th, 6:30-10:30pm at Cotton Bowl Speedway, located at 1175 CR 202 in Paige. General Admission: $12/Adult, $10/Military, Seniors, & Students $5/Child ages 6-12, Children 5 & under FREE; Pit Pass Admission: $30/person.

10. Spring Concert - May 6th, 7:30-9:30 & May 7th, 4-6pm at Calvary Episcopal Church, located at 603 Spring Street in Bastrop. The Bastrop Community Chorus is partnering with the Bastrop Community Orchestra for an evening of unforgettable music, from Mozart to Gershwin! $10/person.
